North West Homing Union<\/strong> <\/span>
\nEquality, Diversity and Inclusion Statement \/ Policy<\/strong><\/span>
\nAims<\/span><\/strong>
\nIn the North West Homing Union we aim to help the sport of pigeon racing to have an atmosphere of friendship, respect and care for each other. In particular we aim to treat every member equally, regardless of their age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.<\/span>
\nAccessibility<\/span>
\nAll our meetings and events are held in venues that are accessible to wheelchair users. <\/span>
\nWhere possible when organising meetings for our members to ensure places for carers of members are available.<\/span>
\nBeing part of the NWHU your organisation is committed to ensuring any member of the organisation is able to attend its activities, so organisations are encouraged to assess access requirements to meet the needs of existing and new \/ future members.<\/span>
\nDiversity<\/span><\/strong>
\nNWHU belongs to all its members. Its aim to support its members and member organisations provide a range of activities and or events to suit the interests and meet the needs of a wide variety of people.<\/span>
\nThe Union should be open to new ideas.<\/span>
\nInclusion and respect<\/span><\/strong>
\nEvery member of the union is to be made to feel equally welcome and included at all member organisation meetings and events.<\/span>
\nSexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic or otherwise offensive and inflammatory remarks and behaviour are not acceptable. These constitute harassment and have no place in the union or sport of pigeon racing.<\/span>
\nCode of Conduct<\/span><\/strong>
\nPeople will be treated with dignity and respect regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.<\/span>
\nAt all times people\u2019s feelings will be valued and respected. Language or humour that people find offensive will not be used, e.g. sexist or racist jokes or terminology which is derogatory to someone with a disability.<\/span>
\nNo one will be harassed, abused or intimidated on the grounds of their age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation. Incidents of harassment will be taken seriously.<\/span>
\nDealing with discrimination and harassment<\/span>
\nIf any member feels they have been discriminated against by a member of the union or harassed at a union event they should raise this with the management committee.<\/span>
\nThe committee will investigate the complaint, listening to all members involved. (If the complaint is against a committee member, that member will not be part of conducting the investigation).<\/span>
\nIf the complaint is against a particular individual, this person will have the opportunity to express their point of view, accompanied by a friend. The person making the complaint will also have this opportunity.<\/span>
\nIf the complaint is against the union as a whole, the Committee must work to ensure that such discrimination is not repeated in the future and must inform the members of how they propose to do this.<\/span>
\nAny decision to exclude a person from the organisation due to discriminatory or harassing behaviour will be made with reference to the unions constitution. The union will support people who feel they have been harassed or discriminated against and will not victimise or treat them less well because they have raised this.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
